The Jazz Exchange Concert Series 2018

"The Jazz Exchange" presents this show as the kick off to its concert series 2018. In collaboration with "Jazz at the Ideal Lodge" the Jazz Exchange brings to you two large ensembles to fill the night with music. The opening act will be led by "The Jazz Exchange Band" (11 piece ensemble), followed by the main act in charge of "Big Beat Jazz Band" (19 piece r&b orchestra).

The Jazz Exchange is an organization committed to narrowing the gap between jazz and communities while creating a platform for established and upcoming jazz musicians. The purpose of this organization is not only to create performance opportunities for musicians but also connecting with audiences around the world. We connect by reaching people through live performances in different communities as well as incorporating documentation of these performances through audio and video.

At a "Jazz Exchange" show the audience can expect a night full of excitement in which an upcoming jazz musician or band will warm up the night by playing a short set of music followed by a main act. This structure will allow the audience to experience what the upcoming generations are striving for as well as what the current and legendary musicians have been working on.

“The Jazz Exchange Band” is an ensemble comprised of professional musicians committed to proving an excellent performance at any given occasion. The members of the band count with many years of experience in the music industry in NY and NJ as well as professional studies in some of the best educational institutions in the country and around the world. This provides the music with a vast array of influences and possibilities focused to provide audiences with a world class performance. The repertoire of the band ranges all the way from swing, big band, bebop, bossa nova, funk, and many more styles offering a wide range of styles for any given event. The band can provide music for a listening audience in a concert format, as well as dance music for any special occasion in a broad range of setting such as festivals, hotels, convention centers, galleries, local venues, halls, and theaters.

Big Beat is a 19-piece big band that was formed in 2014 with one purpose - to make music that sounds good and feels good. Founded by alumni of William Paterson University's vaunted jazz program, the band is steeped in the modern jazz tradition, but we refuse to limit ourselves to any particular genre.
